Are you a mature driver aged 60+?
Do you live in Northamptonshire and rely on driving to stay independent?
This free event is designed especially for you.
Driving plays an important role in everyday life, and as part of the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance, we are keen to help mature drivers stay safer on the roads for longer. While driving ability can change over time for many reasons, particularly as we get older, recognising and adapting to these changes can help keep both drivers and other road users safe.
This Mature Drivers event is aimed at drivers aged 60+ and will cover a wide range of topics related to safe driving, including:
* Practical advice and safety information
* Opportunities to reflect on how driving needs may change over time
* FREE hints‑and‑tips driving sessions, available to book and delivered by Northampton Advanced Motorists at a convenient date tbc
Our aim is simple: to help mature drivers drive safely, confidently, and for longer.

Brixworth Parish Council and Cllr Harris are exploring ideas to get a local Brixworth‑based Repair Shed off the ground — but they need people with skills to make it happen!

They are looking at how they can create a welcoming space where residents can bring broken items to be repaired rather than replaced. It’s a great way to share knowledge, reduce waste, and connect with others.
They are looking for volunteers to help make this a reality with skills such as:
Sewing and textiles
Electrical and small appliance repair
Bicycle maintenance
Woodwork and carpentry
Computer and tech troubleshooting
General DIY and tool use
Toy repairs
Furniture repair & upcycling
Mechanical skills
Mobile phone basics
If you have a skill and a bit of free time — and you’re interested in supporting this project — please leave your details by completing the form Brixworth Repair Shed – Skilled Volunteer Interest Register – Fill in form or contacting Cllr Christine Ware – christine.ware@westnorthants.gov.uk
