Council Income

The Parish Council understand there is a query regarding the Compass Energy community cashback scheme. Compass Energy tracks the collective volume of oil purchased by parishioners and a percentage of those sales is given back to the community as an annual donation to the local Parish Council.

Based on previous years, the donation for Guilsborough is estimated to be around £1,000 per year.  The income is not attributed to any particular expenditure but it is accounted for when preparing the annual budget.

In essence, it allows the Parish Council to reduce the precept request by £1,000 (the precept is the money Parishioners pay via their WNC Council Tax Demand).

If a donation was not received (i.e. no parishioners purchased oil from Compass Energy) then the Parish Council would have to consider how to fund the deficit.

The 2027/28 budget process begins in October 2026. The Parish Council will finalise their budget and precept request by 6th January 2027 at the Council meeting.
